What is Trusteer? And what is the EULA?
Trusteer offerings help protect you against phishing and malware attacks by blocking phishing attempts as well as by blocking and removing malware. Your sponsoring enterprise, such as (for Rapport users) the financial institution with which you do online banking or (for Apex users) your employer, has worked with Trusteer to make this protection available at no charge to you.
IBM recently acquired Trusteer. In light of the integration of Trusteer into IBM, we are releasing an updated EULA. This EULA is available for all users of IBM Security Trusteer Rapport or IBM Security Trusteer Apex Advanced Malware Protection. Which Rapport end users are required to accept the EULA?
New users will be presented the EULA for acceptance upon install/download.
Unless an exception applies, all existing end users of IBM Security Trusteer Rapport will receive a pop-up alert requiring them to accept the updated EULA.
Which Apex end users are required to accept the EULA?
End users of IBM Security Trusteer Apex Advanced Malware Protection will see the pop-up and be required to accept the updated EULA unless their enterprise has chosen a different manner to provide the information in the EULA and an opportunity to consent.
Why am I required to accept the EULA?
The software is designed to protect your device. The EULA explains the terms governing your use of the software on your device.
In order to protect you against malware and phishing attacks, the software constantly acts against threats. As such, we may need to analyze suspicious information relating to malware attacks. To facilitate this, we collect some information from your device. Please read the EULA so that you will be fully informed as to what information IBM collects as your bank’s or enterprise’s data processor and why.
What will happen if I don’t accept the updated EULA for Rapport?
If you are a new user installing Rapport for the first time, the installation will abort.
If you are an existing user of Rapport and you do not agree to the updated EULA , you will no longer be licensed to use the software. Please see uninstall instructions here.
What will happen if I don’t accept the updated EULA for Apex?
Please contact your IT helpdesk for further assistance if you are an Apex end user.
What am I required to do to accept the EULA?
When presented with the following message, simply click ok:
The message will close and will not re-appear.
You are not required to take any further action.
At any time in the future you may decline the EULA by uninstalling the software from your machine.
Are the EULA changes the result of any design or behavior changes in the product or the level of security I was receiving?
No, the changes to the EULA are not driven by any product changes. The product will continue to work the same as before and does not collect any additional data because of this change.
Where can I learn more about the EULA changes?
