Big Sur Virtual Vault – Backup & Disaster Recovery (BDR)
A recent FEMA report estimates that 40 – 60% of small-to-midsized businesses (SMBs) won’t survive a data calamity. Yet other priorities and financial constraints often push business continuity to a back burner. But what if there was a comprehensive backup, disaster and recovery solution that’s practically maintenance-free and priced to fit small business budgets? Don’t Let a System Failure Shut Down
Our business continuity solution is designed to quickly revive your network and have your employees productive again in almost no time. It operates automatically to back up your vital data as frequently as every 15 minutes. If there’s a problem, files can be restored in about a half-hour, or if needed, our system can take over as a virtual server to resume operations until bigger issues with your network can be resolved. And in a worse-case disaster scenario, remote server backup is also available to keep your files and data safe and secure.
A catastrophic system failure creates chaos. Gone are billing and inventory records, customer lists, and more… To recreate this information from scratch is expensive and time consuming. And depending on how much damage was done to the computer systems, it could be days, weeks or even months before operations return to normal.
Big Sur Virtual Vault Features
-
Image-Based Backup
Using image-based backup allows Big Sur to take an image (ie: picture) of an entire system, not simply individual files or applications. This contributes to a superior Recovery Time Objective (RTO) and the ability to boot virtual machines. Image-based backup is an integral component of Intelligent Business Continuity.
-
Instant Virtualization On-Site and Off-Site
Backups can be virtualized locally to the Big Sur device or to the secure Big Sur cloud, instantly, with the click of a button. This unique feature is a key component to intelligent business continuity. Should a local disaster occur, business can continue as usual in the Big Sur cloud.
-
Encryption
All data is protected by AES 256 encryption both in transit and in the cloud. Additionally, users have the option to encrypt data locally, and pass phrases can be specified per appliance or per protected machine to meet compliance regulations.
-
Centralized Management
Power is nothing without control, and Big Sur offers a meticulously refined toolkit for device and account management. A single pane of glass is used to configure devices, schedule backup reports, monitor off-site amounts, set up alerts and more.
-
Advanced Deduplication and Compression
All data sent off-site is compressed using LZMA2 compression to ensure maximum efficiency and provide a stellar user experience even in low bandwidth and high network traffic environments.
-
eDiscovery Software
eDiscovery gives Big Sur users the ability to perform granular recoveries from Microsoft Exchange Server and Microsoft Office SharePoint Server. Powered by Ontrack® PowerControls™ from industry leader Kroll Ontrack, eDiscovery makes it easy to search documents, emails and attachments by keyword and restore exactly what you need.
-
ShadowSnap™
Big Sur utilizes the image-based ShadowSnap™ agent, developed in conjunction with StorageCraft. ShadowSnap is based on the premise of dual backup engines: application-aware VSS by default, with the engine as a safety net. ShadowSnap is particularly useful in performing bare metal restores as it supports dissimilar hardware.
-
AgentSync™
AgentSync is Big Sur’s proprietary technology for quickly and efficiently transferring files to and from the cloud. It allows users to prioritize server backup order, pipeline recovery points, and set up multiple agents to sync off-site simultaneously. This provides greater data integrity, reduces network traffic, and keeps off-site backups up to date.
-
Broad Operating System Support
Big Sur supports Microsoft Windows operating systems for almost any Windows PC or server that is still production today. Support currently ranges from Windows 2000 to Windows 8 and Server 2012. Granular recovery is also available for Exchange and Sharepoint servers.
-
Bare Metal Restore
Restore full machines quickly and efficiently through our USB Bare Metal Restore process. Go from physical machines to virtual (P2V) or vice versa with our unique dissimilar hardware tool that allows for maximum flexibility when restoring. No drives or cables needed as the system can run completely over the user’s network. Big Sur uses the latest networking technology to increase speed and performance.
-
Hybrid Cloud
Dramatically reduce downtime with backups saved both locally and in the cloud. Redundancy in data protection better protects users from the unexpected. Advanced bandwidth management software, local restoration and full cloud data copies are among the many advantages of this solution.
-
Inverse Chain Technology™
This proprietary technology eliminates broken backup chains. Each time a backup occurs data is converted directly into a virtual machine, with the most recent backup image always being the base image. Data is always available immediately, both on and off-site.
-
Backup Insights™
This groundbreaking proprietary technology allows you to identify file or application changes between any two backup points. You can easily find that deleted folder or determine which files a virus affected.
-
Screenshot Backup Verification
No more guessing if your backup is working properly. Big Sur boots backups as virtual machines, capturing an image of the login page to give you visual proof that your data has been successfully backed up. An industry first.
